Wilfred ((Wilf)) Browning

October 6, 1927 - July 20, 2014

Tribute

With the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, and Brother; Wilfred Brodie Browning. Wilf succumbed to his injuries sustained during a fall at his home.  He died on July 20th, 2014, at Royal Columbian Hospital.  Wilf was born in Marcelin, Saskatchewan on October 6, 1927 to Ernest and Laura Browning where he grew up with his 6 brothers and 3 sisters.  When Wilf was old enough, he moved to B. C. to start his career.  One of his first jobs was working as a steward on the C. P. Boats.  Wilf had many jobs after this including working for his brother Dick at Brodie Equipment in Quesnel, but the majority of his working life was spent with B. C. Hydro as a welder-mechanic at the Surrey Construction Yard; here he got to work alongside one of his other brother Jim.  He worked over 28 years there until his retirement.

When Wilf was not at work, he loved to take his family out on his boat fishing throughout the Gulf Islands.  His other hobbies were playing guitar and when he retired he took up rock hounding.

Wilf was predeceased by his mother and father and five brothers and three sisters.  Wilf is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Verna; his brother and his wife, Jim and Anita; his children, Randy and his wife Melodie; Laurie and her husband Jeff; Howardeena and her husband Shawn; Paul and his wife Barb.  His  Grandchildren , Heather, Jennifer, Darren, Gavin,  Rae & Rob & Marc, Alex & Kira, Maeve & Kerry, Laura, Jason, Chad, Jeremy & Jamie.  There are 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  Wilf   is the keystone of our family and will be missed so very very much.  The love is always there and the memories shall never fade.

There will be a Celebration of Life on August 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m..  It will be held at the Masonic Hall ; 20701 Fraser Highway, Langley, B. C.   In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice.

Verna
I am very sorry to read about Wilf,s passing.
I worked at HFC from 1970—1987 and during that time we worked together on numerous projects involving the Cable Dept.
He was always a pleasure to work with and I appreciated his many contributions to building equipment for our various jobs that we were involved with around the Province.
He will be Missed and be Fondly Remembered .

I am sorry that I will not be able to attend his Celebration of Life as I will be out of town for the better part of August.

Sincerest Regards
John Sherry
