Sieghard Klassen
January 20, 1939 - January 9, 2024
Tribute
We are very sad to announce that Sieghard Klassen has passed away after a difficult journey of Parkinson’s disease. As much as he is missed we have the assurance he is with Jesus in Heaven. Dad was born in Gnadenfeld, Russia to David and Katja. The family had a tumultuous time as they were separated just before the start of World War II. Katja (Oma}, Dad and his 2 brothers had to flee as refugees never to see David ever again. This was devastating and something Dad really did not recover from. Eventually they settled in Abbotsford and became a part of the West Abbotsford Mennonite Church which greatly influenced Dad’s Christian faith.
Roofer by trade but a jack of all trades, Dad was an extremely hardworking man. He owned and operated Sig’s roofing for years. In his spare time he would love to ride his bike especially around Mill Lake making friends along the way. Dad also enjoyed driving his car and loved to meet up family or friends for coffee and a good meal.
One of Dad’s highlights was going up country, Salmon Arm as this is where his grandkids are. This was always an adventure for him.
For all of us left behind lets always keep Psalm 23 close to our hearts as this was Dad’s favorite Bible verse.
