Tribute

Bob passed away peacefully at home June 15 at the age of 82. He is remembered by his loving wife of 61 years Verna, daughters Kathy & Susan, son-in-law Don, granddaughter Yolanda & husband Dave, and granddaughters Michelle & Sharleen.Bob was born in Vancouver and lived both there & in Powell River as a boy. He attended Templeton High, after which he started his woodworking career making church pews. A love of woodwork stayed with Bob throughout his life, but in 1946 he found his calling with his life-long career as a Railroader with the C.P.R., first based in North Bend, then Revelstoke where he met wife Verna, Kettle Valley, Port Coquitlam and a short stint on the White Pass Yukon Railway. Bob was with the C.P.R. for a total 41 years and retired in 1987 to pursue his true loves of fishing & camping. The past 24 years saw Bob & Verna travel across Canada in their truck & trailer, camp and fish throughout British Columbia and generally enjoy the simple things in life like nature, a daily game of cribbage and time with friends & family. Bob loved playing music – from violin, to mandolin to the kazoo he played them all and he could always be counted on to be the life of any party.A celebration of Bob’s life will be held Saturday June 25th 1 pm to 4 pm at the home of Don & Kathy Buchan, 8553 252 St. Langley, B.C.. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bob’s honor to The Heart & Stroke Foundation.
