Lawrence Abrey
May 26, 1928 - July 19, 2012
Tribute
It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence Alfred Abrey announce his sudden passing on July 19, 2012. Larry passed away peacefully at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen, in 1999 and survived by his daughter Marilyn (Rick), son Colin (Violet), grand children Cara (Shawn), Allison (Darrell), Jessie (Chris), Mary (John and Graham; and his great grandchildren Brooke, Ronin, Faith and Claire.
Larry was born in Rochford, Essex, England on May 26, 1928, serving in the Royal Air Force during World War II and, in 1957, immigrated with his family to Canada. He enjoyed many years as a volunteer in the community, providing service at the North and West Vancouver Senior Centres, Meals on Wheels Program and the Canadian Red Cross. He was an active member of the Silver Harbor Seniors Centre and especially enjoyed his time singing with the choir, participating in the Acting Up group, making many wonderful friends in both senior centres.
The family would like to recognize Larry’s friendship with Bunny Sharpe and her family.
His kindness, energy and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him.
At Larry’s request, there will be no service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate and honor the wonderful man he was. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

From: Carol Brauner
Relation: Pianist for Seniors Acting Up
Dear Larry, He was a member of Senors Acting Up and a master of the one-liner jokes,. He sang songs like “By the Light of the Silvery Moon” in true music hall style. He was a delight to work with and made our audiences laugh out loud. He was a treasure. My condolences to the family. Sincerely, Carol — and Rita Weakes, Director of SAU.
