Katie Nickel

Tribute
Passed away into the presence of her Saviour Jesus Christ on February 22, 2013. Katie was born to Christian parents Heinrich and Katharina Neufeld on March 24, 1927 in Neuendorf, Ukraine. She was the second of six children – Annie, Katie, Mary, Henry, Erna and Peter. Katie immigrated to Canada on November 14, 1948. Her parents established their new home in Greendale. God had led wonderfully and they were thankful for this. Katie married Jacob Nickel on May 29, 1949 in Greendale. Jake and Katie worked on a dairy farm in Mission and this iswhere their son Henry was born in 1950 and their son Hardy in 1952. They moved to a dairy farm in Greendale and in 1960 their daughter Linda was born. After some health issues Jake and Katie decided to retire and Henry and Annegret took over the dairy operation. After Jake’s passing in 2002 Katie found the house and yard upkeep too much. In 2008 she moved into a condo in Sardis.
Katie leaves behind a family who loved .her dearly: daughter-in-law Annegret and her children Shelby (Carla),and Lance (Carolyn); son Hardy (Jane) and their children Sarah and Owen; her daughter Linda (Glenn) and their children Nicole (Dave), Jamie (Josh) and Scott; 9 great grandchildren; Eric, Kyle, Emily, Tyson, Lincoln, Dylan, Ryleigh, Mckenna and Abigale; other relatives and friends.
