John Jack Wilkie

August 2, 1926 - June 14, 2013

Tribute

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to Jack Wilkie who passed away June 14, 2013, at age 86 at his home in Port Coquitlam.  Jack was a kind, caring and generous man with a quiet strength that carried him through life.

Jack will be greatly missed by his children, Janice, John (Jennifer), Jim (Kelly), grandsons, Conor, Ronnie, Jack and Luke along with friend and former wife Hilda.

After moving from Saskatchewan to Vancouver with his parents and siblings as a youngster, Jack proudly served as a paratrooper in the Canadian Army during World War II. He distinguished himself with a long safe-driving record for Texaco and Petro Canada while delivering gas in tanker trucks around the Lower Mainland before his retirement in 1994. Wilkie Avenue in Coquitlam got its name from him.

His extended family and many friends will miss his conversation, humour, generosity and company. We were all very blessed to have shared time with him and cherish all the memories.

Jack was preceded in death by his sisters Verla and Audrey and brother Merl. He is survived by his sister Ina and brothers Jim, Del and Terry.

A memorial service will take place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Victoria Hall at 3435 Victoria Dr., Coquitlam.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
