Doris Leona Lewis – Sunrise 02 March 1934 – Sunset 05 May 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Leona Lewis announces her passing on Sunday, May 5th, 2024. Leona, as she prefers to be called, left us to join the Love of her Life “Ray”; husband of 59 years. Leona was born, March 2nd, 1934 in Wetaskewin, AB. to parents Christian & Gertrude Shantz.
Leona was a woman ahead of her time, working side by side with Ray in their various business adventures, while raising a family of four children. After retiring (several times) they retired to travel throughout the Continental USA, Canada, Alaska & Hawaii. They were Snowbirds for many years.
Leona is survived by four children, Connie (Bruce), Myrna (Sean), Shane (Sharon) & Tracy (Cindy.) Nine Grandchildren: Risa, Alanna, Nick, Tannis, Ashley, Vanessa, Kerstyn, Kaitlynne & Braydon, & many Great Grandchildren. She joins in heaven, her beloved husband Ray, parents Christian (Tete) & Gertrude Shantz, Sisters: Ruthie and infant sister Margaret.
She loved sports! Baseball, Hockey, Football & Curling. Leona loved life, friends, and her work. However, she lived for her family.
The family would like to thank Cascade Lodge staff for the loving care they gave to her and Dr Wolff for his Guidance, Caring & Compassion for Leona & her family.
