David Earl Tillapaugh
May 19, 1937 - January 31, 2025
Tribute
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dave Tillapaugh at the age of 87; a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.
He passed away peacefully at his home in Chilliwack, B.C. on Jan 31, 2025 surrounded by family and loved ones.
Dave was a man of many talents, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do. From electrical, mechanical, woodworking; right down to the gentleness of pulling a loose tooth and taking out slivers. He loved to tinker and brought many things back to life that were on the brink of disposal.
Dave was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, camping, snorkelling, scuba diving and gardening were amongst his favorites.
His love for his family was undeniable. Those who knew him would agree he was man of few words and yet he had a plethora of wisdom to share if you had the time to sit and listen.
Dave left a legacy of knowledge and respect in his wake. His footprints will be forever imprinted in many a heart.
He is survived by his wife Gloria of 63 years and daughters Trudy (Joe) Hall, Kimberley McKenzie and Earlene Thomson and step- daughter Tracey (Lew) Knowlton;
8 Grandchildren:
Natalie Mason, Sarah (Greg) Derry, Melissa Dowber, Cody Hall (Janelle Maier), Logan Knowlton, Kyle (Krista) Hall and Kristi Thomson;
6 Great Grandchildren:
Asher Derry, Matt Derry, Charlie Mason, Mack Hall, Remi Delarue-Dowber and Ziggy Hall;
Dave is survived by his siblings Bud Tillapaugh, Janet (Allan) Nielsen and Ron (Cindy) Tillapaugh and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Earl and Violet Tillapaugh, sister-in-law Sophie Tillapaugh and grandson Jesse Thomson.
He will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.
Rest in peace Dad, we love and miss you. We’ll see you in the stars.
There will be no service as per his request.

My thoughts are with everyone and this loss. I have great memories of Uncle Dave. Thinking of him now, picturing him in a workshop, his kindness, and cleverness brings a smile. This photo was scanned from my parents collection, Vegreville I believe. I can’t see him in my mind without his beard but found I could easily imagine adding the beard to this photo.
