Allan George Karleen

February 1, 1944 - May 12, 2024

Tribute

Allan Karleen was called home to be with Jesus on the morning of May 12, 2024, at the age of 80 years old, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Allan died peacefully at the Abbotsford Hospice Holmberg House, surrounded by family.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Allan was the eldest of four siblings, raised in the close-knit community of Port Coquitlam. His career, which began at the tender age of 17, was dedicated to maintaining, installing, and repairing building mechanical systems for BCBC, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

In 1964, Allan’s world was forever enriched when he married the love of his life, Ann. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising two sons, Darryl and Adrian, in Maple Ridge and later in Abbotsford to live closer to his parents and relatives. A committed family man and Mr. Fixer, Allan enjoyed working on home renovation projects, tinkering with cars and boats, fishing with his son Adrian, RVing with Ann, playing guitar, and going on cruises with friends.

Tragically, Allan’s journey was cut short by a lengthy battle with cancer. Yet, even in his final days at the Abbotsford Hospice Holmberg House, he remained surrounded by the love and support of his family and the supportive care of the hospice staff and volunteers. In memory of Allan Karleen, donations to the Abbotsford Hospice & Grief Support Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Allan was predeceased by his parents, sister Carol, and brother Robert.  Allan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann;  his two sons and their families, Darryl (Andrea) and Adrian (Sheila); his four grandchildren, Dylan, Charlotte, Tyler and Justin; Darryl’s partner Andrea’s children, Sage and Kestrel;  his great-grandson Elliot; and his younger brother Jim (Rose).

You are warmly invited to gather for a Celebration of Allan’s Life on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Nikkel Hall – Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road, Abbotsford.
