Tribute

Norma Dora Carson, born May 9, 1928, died on Thursday April 25, 2019, two weeks before her 91st birthday.  Norma was the daughter of Fred and Mary Hebert and was the last surviving sibling of Raymond (Grace), Leo (Marion), Rick (Marie), & Claire and mother to Nelson, Carrie (Ted), Jennifer (Allen), Clark (Nancy) & Ray (deceased), loving grandmother and great-grandma.  Norma had battled a number of serious health issues for years but always with a smile and a fierce determination to continue to do the things she loved.  She was a remarkable spirit, as a child seeing a world around her infused with a light she thought everyone saw.  Although her life challenges were many and opportunities few, she excelled wherever she turned her hand.  She single-handily ran a restaurant (with five school-aged children at home) and later was a bookkeeper for Motor Car Parts and soon became indispensable to the whole organization.  Norma enjoyed both her line-dancing buddies and her fundraising activities with her friends at Gladwin Heights United Church.  She was a tournament-winning ten-pin bowler; a very sharp bridge, poker, scrabble, Sudoku and crossword player; sang like a nightingale; fabulous cook; and amazing host of all our family gatherings.  She was a ferociously protective family matriarch and the epitome of unconditional love, no matter what the cost.  Celebration of Life, May 4, 2019 at 2 pm at Gladwin Heights United Church, 3474 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, BC
