Nellie Nachbar

December 11, 1923 - October 23, 2011

Tribute

With sadness in our hearts, we announce our mother peacefully passing into glory to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 23, 2011. She was born in December 1923 in Westzaan, Holland. She married the love of her life, Jack, in 1947 and they immigrated to Canada in 1948, settling in Aldergrove. They operated their floral shop and landscaping business until the late 1980s. Nellie was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Aldergrove, volunteering for many years. She loved spending time with family and friends, sharing a lot of laughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Trinity Christian Reformed Church on Trethewey Street in Abbotsford.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 2000, her son-in-law, Henry, in 2002, her son, Herman, in 2010, her sister Jenny and brother Dirk (both in Holland) in the past year.
Nellie is survived by her daughters: Wilma Brandsema, Janette Rennie (Lloyd) and Carol Olinek (Glenn), 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, her sisters Tina Bos and family (in Surrey) and Ann Ten Hoope (in Holland), many nieces and nephews in Holland, and her special friends Ed Bushgens and John Jansen.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Morrison and the staff of the ACE Unit at Abbotford Hospital for their compassionate care. Thank you to the members of the Royal Canadian Legion in Aldergrove and also a very special thank you to her dear friends, Ed and John for all their caring companionship. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bibles for Missions would be appreciated.

From: Dick Smallenberg
Relation: long time friends

When my parents moved to Aldergrove in 1951, Nellie and Jack were one of the first people they met and became friends. We visited many times at their house and garden center. There were 6 of us kids, and many of us had a lot of fun times with the Nachbar gang of kids. Thanks for the friendships and fun times. Nellie will now enjoy seeing Jack and have some laughs with mom and dad. Seems they were always joking about something! Take care, Dick and Gail Smallenberg.
