Tribute
With sadness we announce the passing of Gaele Atsma at Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission on September 1, 2023 at 90 years of age.
Gaele was born in Harkema, the Netherlands. At 18 years old he immigrated to Canada. After meeting and marrying his first wife Pearl they settled on their dairy farm in Matsqui where they raised their 7 children. Pearl passed away in 2007 and he retired on an acreage near the farm. He enjoyed watching everything going on at the farm. In 2009 he married Dorothy and enjoyed travelling the world, visiting people and driving around the Fraser Valley checking out all the farms.
Gaele will be remembered by his children Paul (Tena), Gerald, Allan (Christien), Dave (Charlene), Alice (Otto); daughter-in-law Donna and all his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his first wife Pearl, his sons George (Donna) and John and his second wife Dorothy.
The family would like to thank Mission Hospice for their excellent care of dad and support to our family in those last days.
Gaele’s memorial will be held Friday, September 8th at 1 pm at Living Hope Church, 34631 Old Clayburn Road, Abbotsford.
