Tribute
It is with love and sadness we share the passing of our beloved Mother, Dorothy Lister, April 16, 2024 – born July 28, 1930 in Vancouver, BC. Predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Alfred Lister left her side June, 2000. Dorothy leaves behind 3 children, Louise (Tony), Brad (Dorothy) & George (Carole) with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy was born on July 28, 1930 in Vancouver, BC. to George and Beatrice Morrison where they lived on Oxford Street in Burnaby just above the P.N.E. grounds for her entire childhood. Her childhood friend, June Anderson and Lilla McNichol were very much a part of her life. In her high school years she worked part time at the Valley Bakery, well know in Burnaby Vancouver Heights. She attended North Burnaby High School where she met her sweetheart, Alfred Lister. They married on October 22, 1949 and lovingly together for 50 years until Alfred’s passing in June 2000. They bought their first home in Burnaby in 1950 on Oxford Street and Dorothy worked part time at BC Tel, as a switchboard operator on The Heights. In 1958, Alfred transferred with BC Electric from Vancouver to Abbotsford Lineroom. They rented until they purchased a six acre hobby farm in 1961 on Bradner Road, Abbotsford where they lovingly raised their three children Louise, Brad and George. Dorothy loved to cook and bake as we always remember the wonderful fresh baked bread and Sunday dinners with Yorkshire pudding. Dorothy was an avid supporter of her family’s sports interests. She also organized pickers for our large raspberry lot, plus, volunteering her time with the Women’s Institute of Peardonville Hall, Abbotsford 4-H Beef Club, Girl Guides and at the latter part of her life the BC Hydro Retirees’ Power Pioneers’ Fraser Valley Chapter. Both Alf and Dorothy enjoyed many road trips to the Okanagan, Merritt, Pot Hole Lake, Roche Lake, Kentucky Aileen Lake, Reno and memorable trips to England, Spain and Hawaii with Burnaby school friends and family. Dorothy lived the last years of her life being well cared for at Menno Home Hospital where she passed peacefully on April 16, 2024.
A Remembrance of Dorothy will be held Friday, June 21 from 2 – 4 pm at Salvation Army – Cascade Community Church, 35190 DeLair Road, Abbotsford, BC.

Louise and family,
I so appreciated your mom for the friendliness and friendship she gave my mom (also named Dorothy) at the time she needed it the most. I also enjoyed visiting her around the table and outside on the back patio. Always a smile, too. My sincere sympathy to all of you. It is hard to have a mom leave us, no matter the age.
