David (Dave) Edward Robertson

January 4, 1960 - January 4, 2025

Tribute

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Dave Robertson who passed away from a sudden heart attack while walking with his children on January 4th. Dave was the beloved husband to Kathy and devoted father to David (Melanie), Samantha (Jack), Matthew and grandfather to Ivy. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Bernie Robertson. He is survived by his brother Doug (Michelle)  and sister, Fran (Ted) and numerous nephews and nieces and extended family. Dave was born and raised in Vancouver and moved to the lower mainland to raise his family. He worked for many years for the city of Vancouver sanitation department. He had a strong work ethic, which resulted in the role of Superintendent in the latter years of his employment.

Dave’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by the love of his life, Kathy and his talented children, whether that was on vacation, during family dinners, on the golf course, playing many games, or watching his favourite football team, the Chicago Bears. To his children, he was everything. A guide, a protector, and their biggest supporter. He filled their lives with joy, wisdom, and unconditional love and shaped them into the wonderful adults  they are today. He taught them how to love, show strength, and what it meant to live with purpose.

His wisdom, kindness and strength were gifts he shared with everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Dave had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. He was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

The family is grateful for the professional response from Abbotsford Paramedics, Dr. Ryan and team at Abbotsford Hospital, and to Dr. Marazzi for his many years of compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 25 at the Mount Lehman Community Association Hall from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

Dave was a kind and gentle man who loved his morning coffee and breakfast and a worthwhile conversation. We will miss his jokes, easy smile and chuckle. He was such a proud father and wonderful grandfather. We are so saddened by this loss for Kathy and family. He will be dearly missed.

SO VERY SORRY TO HEAR this NEWS. I worked with Dave for many years at the City of Vancouver. He was my Superintendent for most of my career. Hardcore Chicago Bears fan, every time they played I would think of him. I was sad to see him retire. And now to hear of his untimely death, so sad indeed. MAY YOU RIP 🙏 DAVE
