Acron Dallis Flamond

November 9, 1957 - March 1, 2019

Tribute

Passed away on March 1st, 2019 in Abbotsford, B.C., after suffering a stroke.

Acron was the son of Mary Alice (Molly) Flamond,

August 28th, 1915 – June 29th, 1997

and Alfred Joseph Flamond, who passed away on June 2nd, 1981.

Acron had one brother, Captain Cuyler Darlson Flamond,

21st March 1954 – August 2009,

and two half-brothers, Leroy and Tracy Flamond,

who also passed away many years ago.

The only living relatives of Acron are his nephew Rigel Flamond, son of Captain Cuyler Darlson Flamond and Christine Flamond (Vienna),

his nephew Fraser Flamond, son of Leroy Flamond (Alberta),

his Aunt Helen Simmons (Fort Saskatchewan),

and his cousins Avrum Wright (Alberta) and Cole Shirvell (Gabriola Island).

Acron lived a very solitary life. He had no close friends, no partner, had never married, and whenever the subject of seeking any of the aforementioned came up, he’d grin sheepishly and say „naaaaaa…“ and that was that.

It breaks my heart to think of his loneliness, how utterly alone he must have felt in those last 22 years, since Molly – his Mom – passed away.

Visiting him for the first time in about 12 years, since Molly passed on, we had the impression upon entering the apartment, that Molly was still there, as he had changed nothing, but left so many of her things as they were.

The only indication that Mom had gone, was the fine layer of dust on the plastic flowers and on some of the furniture…To me that was a clear indication of his loneliness and the trauma, that his mother’s death must have caused him.

Our hearts go out to him, with sadness and compassion, and we sincerely hope, that we managed to brighten his days, when we were with him, that he enjoyed travelling with us, when we went to Alberta together, to visit the „Aunties“, and that he enjoyed being with us, when we visited and stayed with him in Abbotsford.

Even though he often pretended to be grumpy, when we got him out of bed in the morning, just to go shopping to London Drugs (our favourite store in Abbotsford!) – I still felt, that he enjoyed going along and spending time with us.  We hope, that we brought a little bit of joy to him on these far too few occasions, and we’ll miss seeing him and being with him on our next visits to Canada.  He will always have a special place in our hearts and we shall never forget him!

The McConkey family, Geraldine, Todd and Megan, (Capt Rory McConkey – deceased), would like to acknowledge the brother of our dear friend Darlson. We are sure Acron missed his brother very much as well. They are united now in death, and we imagine them sailing together among the stars. Bless them both. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Christine for writing such a beautiful obituary for Acron Dallis Flamond. We met over 30 years ago in Qualicum Beach, and send our love and condolences to her and Rigel. Please feel free to contact us in Vancouver BC.
