Marian Gunberg Goertz (Olsen)

September 23, 1931 - March 22, 2023

Tribute

Our heart-broken family has lost an amazing woman.

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Marian Goertz on March 22 during a
brief stay in the Abbotsford Hospital.

Marian was a kind, gracious, giving, family-loving hard worker with never a bad word to
say about anyone. She was a great cook, a super baker, and liked gardening and sewing,
and watching the Canucks.

She is survived by one sister and one brother and her five children’s families including
17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Marian was born a third daughter in 1931 in Calumet Alberta. Her widowed mother
moved her six children to a farm in Milner BC in 1945 where Marian completed high
school and worked at the Royal Bank. She married Vernon in Langley in 1950, and they
eventually settled in Abbotsford, raising their children and running the Montrose Dry
Cleaners. Marian had several jobs but the latest before she retired was with the
Abbotsford RCMP as records clerk.

Marian has been a devoted member of the Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly for 70
years – she was an avid volunteer and looked after their landscaping for 14 years until
she was not able to bend those old bones so well. Donations can be made in Marian’s
memory to PAOC Missions.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, June 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly, 3145 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford.

My sweet Grandma! You were always one to make us feel loved and welcome, even when we couldn’t be around on the regular. You had one of the biggest hearts, and were made of tough stuff! I’m so proud to have known you, and been a descendant of you! I wish my little baby could have met you, but I’m glad you’re pain free and in the hands of Jesus. Much love!
