Tribute
Born September 21, 1944, passed away June 5th, 2020 after a long battle with diabetes. John is survived by his wife Gerri Hall; stepson Shayne (Emma) Langlois, grandchildren Heath and Fletcher in Manchester, UK.; stepdaughter Sarah (John) Proctor, grandchildren Chase and Ava, Langley; stepdaughter Leanne Laitinen-Cutt (Bill Cutt ), grandchildren Charlee Rose and Brielle, Langley; and his two brothers Larry (Liz) Hall and Rob (Julie) Hall. John started his life growing up in Burnaby, BC and moved to Penticton with his family for a short while before returning to Burnaby where he graduated from Burnaby South High School. He started his career in the grocery industry first working for Dominion Foods and IGA before starting to work for the Jim Pattison Overwaitea Food Group for many years. John became a well-respected businessman both in Canada and Internationally. Known for his Integrity and quick wit John would do what’s right for the people who worked with him and the business. In retirement John and Gerri enjoyed their home on the beach in White Rock and traveling the world. Most of all John enjoyed time with their six grandchildren. John (PAPA) will be sorely missed by all his family and friends but he left us with lots of great memories we will never forget.
We are all sad right now but we can hear John saying “ I am in a better place so get on with living life to its fullest. Good bye for now to my family and friends.”
John will be remembered with a private celebration of his life with his family. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Diabetes Canada.
