Doreen Wilson (Blewett)

November 25, 1931 - May 22, 2020

Tribute

Doreen Wilson, nee Blewett, (88) passed away on May 22, 2020 predeceased by the love of her life, Ken, six years earlier.

Doreen was the youngest child of seven, born in Fort William, Ontario, to parents who had immigrated from Penzance, England.

Doreen moved to BC where she settled in Langley and raised her two children. She was the “Voice of City Hall” at the City of Langley for over twenty years until her retirement when she moved to Abbotsford. Her happiest times were being on the road with Ken. As the Matriarch of her family, she leaves behind her daughter Cheryl (Jim), and son Norm (Leslie), grandchildren, Deana, Cory (Kristen), Jeff (Tiffany), Tiffany Lin (Dennis), eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  She was our mother, and grandmother, but most of all she was our best friend. We will miss her laughter, and her wit. Today our hearts are broken but her spirit will live with us forever. Special thanks from the family to the incredible Doctors and Nurses in the ICU on the Covid ward at ARH.

“We watch her leave our shore and lament

As she disappears over the horizon — But, out of sight,

there are those gathered on a far off shore shouting, “Here she comes!”

My heart goes out to you all, Doreen was such a special person. I worked with her at City Hall and she was really a lovely person. when I think of her all I can do is smile, she was a legend, we have had so many good times, great times and unbelievable times. She wore her heart on her sleeve, although she had no problem setting you straight if need be. My friend was a real treasure, so with tears on my eyes I say we are all lucky to have known her. Big hugs, Cathy
