John Loewen

Tribute
John was born on a farm near Wymark, Saskatchewan, the youngest son of Jacob and Anna (nee Suderman) Loewen. He spent most of his youth in Saskatchewan but moved to Prince George as a young man where he met and married the love of his life, Fran. After Fran’s death in 1985 and his retirement from the base at Baldy Hughes, he moved to the Lower Mainland to be near his family. He joined the First United Mennonite Church in 2002 when he was baptized with his grandson and greatly enjoyed socializing with all of his new friends there. Due to his failing health, he moved to Royal Arch Masonic Home just after his 83rd birthday where he felt well cared for and loved by the staff. He suddenly fell ill on May 4th with pneumonia and died later that day in Burnaby General Hospital. We would like to give special thanks to the staff of 3E at Royal Arch Masonic Home and to Dr. Greg Tobert.
He is survived by his son, Randy (Mary) Loewen and his grandchildren Geoffrey, Stephanie and Melissa. He is also missed by his only surviving sister, Jessie Fehr of Grande Prairie, Alberta and his sister-in-law, Helen Loewen of Prince George as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11 am at First United Mennonite Church, 659 East 52 Avenue, Vancouver. A light lunch will follow the service.
