Reginald Scharfe

August 25, 1920 - April 20, 2012

Tribute

Born September 26, 1930, in Ottawa, Ontario, and passed away on April 20, 2012, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
Predeceased by his parents and seven siblings. Survived by one sister, Vivian; three children: Clifford and Debra
(Robert) of North Bay, Ontario, and Kathy (Marcus) of London, Ontario; and four granddaughters and two great granddaughters.

Reg grew up on a family farm in the Ottawa area and went on to a career in the Royal Canadian Airforce and later Transport Canada as a radar and aviation control systems technologist. His career and an interest in travel took him to locations throughout North America including the DEW Line as well as postings to RCAF bases in Germany and France. Reg enjoyed sports and the great outdoors, in particular fishing and canoeing, and he remained active to the end of his life. Reg will be remembered by friends and neighbours as an avid gardener. He loved the many varieties of plants and flowers supported by the temperate climate of the B.C. Lower Mainland.

Cremation will be followed by a private ceremony and gathering of family in North Bay. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff and physicians of the Emergency Department of Abbotsford Regionl Hospital.

“May you always walk in sunshine. May you never want for more. May Irish angels rest their wings right beside your door.”

My sincerest condolensces to Reg’s family and friends. Reg used to work with my Dad (Russell Wheildon) and I would often times spend time with Reg at the arena at the Trappers and Centennials hockey games. He was a lovely and very funny man and will be missed by many.

So sorry for your loss.
